Some things that I liked during the conference:

• SMS broadcast – it was not that intrusive and I kinda like the positive words meant for the committee members
• Good talks! Covering developers, community and the IT executives
• Excellent efforts from the volunteers
• Free lodging (and food) the whole conference period – hehehe
• Free goodies all around

Things I didn’t like much:

• Internet connection sucked

Some stuff I noticed:

• Nobody was in charged of making sure the tracks started on time – no bell man -> sessions started late -> went to lunch late
• I remember lots of people asking “Where is Manhattan V???” for Executive Download tracks
• I couldn’t join most of the talks
• More people in Developer track than the rest – usually full house and more

3. Hey we got sijil penghargaan for sumbangan melaksanakan projek inovasi MyMeeting, with my name incorrectly spelled on it.

The Regency is actually quite a good place. We rented a few apartments to stay. Quite a turn up for the event. I personally didn’t expect much but everyone who was there sure made everything fun and happening. Kudos to the organizing committee.

The theme for the BBQ nite was red. Despite all the thoughts that went into it, I didn’t wear anything red… lalalala…. Sort of accidental actually, by the time I realized it, it was too late to do anything about it.

I had to man (woman) the booth, quite depressing coz every now and then people would call me to explain stuff to booth visitors. I missed some of the talks I wanted to listen to!

Now that’s an example of how an open source event should be – laidback, fun, ‘protocol-less’, various informative tech talks, responsive audience and most importantly everyone was there for one same reason: the love in open source and building a community, not because they had no choice ordered to go there by their bosses.

If you weren’t there, honestly speaking, you missed out on ALOT. Whether it was because of other commitments or just plain intimidated that you didn’t come that day, well, come to FOSS.my 2009 then (hopefully there’ll be one). You will surprised at how friendly and helpful these people are!

I can’t stress enough how awesome it was and how much you missed out if you weren’t there. Worth my weekend.
