Movie

// December 23rd, 2008 // No Comments » // personal

Went to see Yes Man last Satuday nite and it was fun fun fun! I don’t really like Jim Carey in comedy except in The Mask – I don’t really like that elastic face going on in every movie he’s in :p For example, Ace Ventura. It is way off unrealistic (but still managed somehow to come off funny to me). But hey, I prefer serious acting, not cheap face stunts ok. Good laughs and all but it made me cringe abit.

He’s also starred in many serious movie roles and I think I’ve seen them all, just because I wanted to see him trying out something else. But he is what he is, he does it best in comedy. This movie is no exception. Only that he’s a real normal person in this, something anyone on earth can relate to.

So I recommend it highly to whoever still contemplating to see it. It’s entertaining. You’re going to have lots of lol’s and maybe lortf’s who knows….

Atonement

I really really want to see said movie. Not so much because of Keira Knightly but because of James McAvoy…. lalalalalala…. I can never forget him after ‘Becoming Jane’ (intense!). Also you should see him in ‘The Last King of Scotland’ (gawd!).

Anyways, I don’t understand why are they waiting till Christmas to show it here. They’ve been showing in Europe/US for months and months already!

p/s: w00t is now officially a word according to Merriam-Webster online. Really.

I was looking for Harry Potter books…

….but I could only find 2 of them. What happened to the rest??? There goes my source of entertainment last weekend. Like I had the time to read these days. Everything wanted in a hurry I can find a little time for myself lately. Managed to squeeze in some time for a DVD last night, and a handful of good sleep. Amidst of all this madness, I finally able to spend the hours like I have all the time in the world… lalalalala….

Anyway, since things have been crazy, I couldn’t spend so much time outside of the house. The boss even let me work from home. Same goes to Adda as well.

Penpaling is starting to take flight – which I am sooo happy about. I mean you spend 24/7 in front of your pc and typing. Don’t you get agitated after a while? Like you lose touch with reality or something. I feel like I’m missing out alot. Not to mention missing on alot of company events while we’re in Brunei. Everytime we get back we’re like new staff or something, always looking around and being hushed to update meetings, no place to sit since they are always full. New faces keep popping up every now and then. Good to know that we’ve moved to a new place, new surrounding and less hectic. So we got our own place and bigger area to kick people when we get nervous or stressed out…

Anyway my point is at the end of the day what I need to unwind is laying on the bed, just before sleep, with a pen and a paper, thinking about what to write to another living person on another side of the world. And then writing it down. The key verb here is write. I’ve come to realize that no matter how fast emails can be, I can never catch up with them. Yet the funny thing is I’m a web developer. How strange. But then again people usually do the opposites of what they always do to break free don’t they.

I have bad news: I’ll be in a plane heading towards Brunei at this time of the hour tomorrow.

I’m in a dilemma – Bestari 206 or Picanto Suria or Getz?

*sigh* I think I’m going to take a nap.

What a georgous movie!

I saw If Only last night – on dvd lah. What a movie. Staring Jennifer Love Hewitt and Paul Nicholls. I just can’t resist the british accent in a romantic comedy. But it’s not released in english speaking country, no wonder there was no talks about it before. It’s a 2004 anyway.

But what a story it is. What a performance.

Stumbled upon ‘The Lake House‘ today. A total chick flick I must say. But you never know right…..

Basically it’s about 2 people (Kate and Alex) who correspond through letters. Read on the website if you want to know more on the storyline.

What Keanu Reeves has to say on letter writing:

The very act of letter writing requires that you take the time to collect your thoughts. It allows you to be your best self, your most intimate and thoughtful. You have to wait for the other person to receive the letter and then respond so there’s a sense of longing and waiting that concentrates your intention.

Sandra Bullocks says:

It avoids the superficial song and dance that always happens when people first meet and are trying to present their best side. ….. Because of the unusual nature of the connection there’s no embarrassment and no fear of sharing all of yourself because there’s a part of you still saying, ‘Well this doesn’t really exist,’ or ‘Even if it does, I’ll never meet this person so what’s to worry about?’ What makes them fall in love so deeply is the utter fearlessness they have in revealing their vulnerabilities upfront.

More form the website:

There’s a feeling of holding in your hands something that someone else has touched, especially when there is so little of the physical realm they’re allowed to share.

*sigh*…. reminds me of my letter writing days….. which ended abruptly since I started working… when up until then I had been a very good snailmailer… and I had some pretty good penpals…. *sob sob*…..

Of all the technology that surround us these days, I find communicating with someone through handwritten letters are the most attractive. I just don’t have people to mutually snailmailing with now. Too bad.
